Porto-Vecchio, Corsican jewel between heavenly beaches and historic citadel

Welcome to Porto-Vecchio, a pearl of Southern Corsica, where beaches with turquoise waters, picturesque alleys and wild mountains blend together in an enchanting setting. Between Genoese heritage, island culture and unspoiled nature, Porto-Vecchio is an essential destination to discover all the authenticity of the Isle of Beauty.

A historic citadel perched above the sea
Built in the 16th century by the Genoese, the citadel of Porto-Vecchio overlooks the gulf and offers a panoramic view of the bay. Its cobbled streets, lined with stone houses and lively squares, form a charming maze where craft shops, cafés and typical restaurants mingle. Enjoy a stroll along the ramparts, where you can observe the old entrance gates to the city, including the Porte Génoise, a vestige of Porto-Vecchio's fortified past. Not far from there, the Place de la République, lined with shaded terraces, is ideal for a sunny break in the heart of the historic center.

Paradise beaches with crystal clear waters
Porto-Vecchio is renowned for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica. Palombaggia, with its white sand and umbrella pines, is a real picture-postcard setting. A few kilometres away, Santa Giulia seduces with its lagoon with shallow, translucent waters, ideal for families and swimming. And finally, we recommend stopping at Rondinara, a magnificent shell-shaped cove, perfect for a lazy afternoon or a snorkelling session.

A nature between sea and mountains
Inland, Porto-Vecchio also offers a spectacular natural setting. The Ospedale Massif, located about thirty minutes away by car, is a must-see site for hiking enthusiasts. Its lake, surrounded by pine forests, offers an exceptional panorama of the Corsican coastline. Climb to the Piscia di Gallu viewpoint, an impressive 60-meter waterfall, accessible by a hiking trail offering breathtaking landscapes.

Corsican gastronomy not to be missed
Porto-Vecchio is an ideal stopover to taste Corsican specialties, halfway between pastoral tradition and Mediterranean cuisine. Among the essentials, we find artisanal charcuterie (coppa, lonzu, prisuttu), sheep's and goat's cheeses, as well as fiadone, a light brocciu and lemon cake.
